Podiatrist-prescribed, custom-made orthotics designed specifically for growing feet — helping your child move freely, comfortably, and confidently.
Not all insoles are created equal — here's what makes custom orthotics different from the ones you find off the shelf.
Custom orthotics are shoe inserts prescribed and designed specifically for your child's foot — not a generic shape, but a device built around a digital scan of their individual anatomy and a personalised prescription from your podiatrist.
Designed to support and align the foot, taking stress off structures throughout the lower limb — especially important in growing kids.
By reducing abnormal foot motion, orthotics allow the foot to absorb shock properly and stabilise during activity.
Kids' orthotics are specifically designed to reduce strain on injured or vulnerable structures, including growth plates and the Achilles tendon.
Children don't always tell us their feet hurt — sometimes it shows up differently. Here are things to look out for.
Complaints of sore feet, arches, heels, or legs — especially after activity or at the end of the day.
Toe-walking, in-toeing ("pigeon-toed"), out-toeing, or a noticeably flat-footed gait.
Frequent nighttime leg aches that disrupt sleep — often linked to biomechanical stress during the day.
Reluctance to run, jump, or play sport — or tiring faster than other kids of the same age.
Shoes wearing down unevenly or breaking down quickly on one side suggests altered foot mechanics.
Pain that seems to come from higher up the leg can often trace back to how the foot is functioning.
From first appointment to fully broken-in orthotics, here's exactly what to expect at Sole Podiatry.
A thorough analysis of your child's foot, ankle, and lower limb — range of motion, video gait analysis, and a full clinical assessment.
We use a laser scanner (iPad-attached) to take a digital cast of each foot, then send it to our lab with a personalised prescription.
Once your orthotics arrive, your podiatrist checks the fit and function — watching your child walk and run in their own shoes.
We check in at 1–2 weeks (comfort check) and again at 4–6 weeks (effectiveness review). We fine-tune until everything feels right.
No surprises. Here's a full breakdown of the orthotic fee schedule — and don't forget, kids get their second pair FREE!
* Review/fitting consultation fees (Code 012) are separate. Your podiatrist will confirm all fees at your first appointment.
We process all major health funds via HICAPS on-the-spot. Rebates vary by your level of cover — check with your fund using the HICAPS codes listed on your left.
